Video sharing site Dailymotion has struck a deal with ‘online discovery experience’ The Filter to increase its levels of video consumption, user engagement and dwell time. TechCrunch reports that this partnership will see The Filter deliver personalised recommendation services to all 66 million monthly users of Dailymotion, according to comScore statistics

YouTube in discussions over paid-for feature length films

The New York Times reports that YouTube has been in discussions with Lionsgate Entertainment, Sony and Warner Brothers in the hope of securing a licensing deal to host feature length films on its video sharing site. Sony and Warner Brothers have thus far declined to comment, but Lionsgate spokesman Peter Wilkes stated that the company is keeping its options open for expanding the availability of its catalogue

Last night, the news that the “King of Pop”, Michael Jackson, had been rushed to hospital following a cardiac arrest broke out. Entertainment site TMZ broke the story at around 10.20pm GMT, but the death was not confirmed by other new sources until around half an hour later.
