Small Business Video Marketing For 2010
August 25, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
There are still debates going on about how business owners can use social media marketing, however the actual number of CEOs engaging in social media is surprisingly low. In 2010 it seems that businesses have either grown comfortable, or have been forced to accept sites like Twitter, Facebook, and Foursquare.. For instance, there are many impressive CEOs using Twitter to reach out to consumers by creating a personalized touch to their business. Tweeting CEOs like Tony Hsieh of Zappos and Guy Kawasaki of Alltop are well-known for their successful social presences and large followings as a result. There is more to the buzz than just Twitter and Facebook, and you can see this in action by watching how business owners are using video marketing

The new network covers Google display ads on Google Maps, YouTube, Gmail, Google Finance, Blogger and other ad partner sites. Google made the announcement on their Inside AdSense blog , claiming the move was to make their display media clearer to advertisers: “The Google Display Network will comprise all of the sites where advertisers can buy ads through Google, including the over one million AdSense and DoubleClick Ad Exchange partners as well as YouTube and Google properties such as Google Finance, Gmail, Google Maps, and Blogger… The Google Display Network offers all ad formats – text, image, rich media, and video ads – enabling advertisers to unleash their creativity and engage visitors on your websites in various ways.” If you’re an AdSense publisher you’re already part of the Google Display Network. No changes have been made to how AdSense works and no action is required by you to opt-in.

Social networks overtake search engines in the UK
June 7, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
British web users are now visiting social networks such as Facebook more than they are using search engines , according to a new report from Experian Hitwise. The report revealed that social networking sites accounted for 11.88 per cent of UK web traffic during May 2010, compared to just 11.33 per cent spent using search engines . The analyst reported that this is the first time social networks have overtaken search engines in the UK. Facebook is the clear leader of the social networking pack, accounting for 55 per cent of all visits to social sites, followed by video sharing site YouTube with 16.47 per cent. Facebook alternatives such as Twitter, Bebo and MySpace were found to receive significantly less visits, however, with Twitter coming in third position with just 2.08 per cent. Experian Hitwise Research Director, Robin Goad, said: “Social networks are a key part of the online landscape in the UK, and their popularity continues to grow. “Although social networks and search engines perform different functions, they both act as gateways to the wider Internet. This data perfectly illustrates the key role that social media now plays in so much online behavior.” Despite the rise of social networks, Google still remains the single most popular website overall, with 9.29 per cent of visits compared to Facebook’s 7.04 per cent. This is due to Google’s dominance of the search market, with nine in every 10 web searches carried out last month by UK web users being done so through Google .co.uk and Google.com.

Niche Marketing – How to Target Your Marketing Efforts and Master Your Business Niche
May 19, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
If you want to make more money in today’s competitive environment, then you need to master your business niche. Let me show you a perfect, prime example of niche marketing at its best: The AARP card appeared in the mail again. This time I actually opened the envelope and reviewed the material included with the invitation to join. Offers of insurance, magazines, on-line registrations and general information related to aging spilled out across the table. Everything in the packet maintained the specific intent of enticing a middle age person to join the group dedicated to senior citizens. A scant five years ago, I wouldn’t have acknowledged the promotional material. It would have been swept into the nearest garbage can as I briefly wondered why this organization wasted its marketing dollars on me. Now, as I scan the introductory letter, the supporting messages delivered in the envelope are beginning to make sense.

Digital Economy Bill approved by Parliament
April 8, 2010 by publisher · Leave a Comment
The government’s controversial Digital Economy Bill outlining Britain’s internet laws has been passed by MPs in the House of Commons, holding on to most of its clauses. The Bill was passed by a majority of 189 votes to 47, following its third reading and after two hours of debate that saw certain clauses being withdrawn or replaced. The Telegraph reports that the unpopular Clause 43 has been abandoned, which proposed extending the licenses of orphaned copyrighted works, as have plans in the Finance Bill to charge a 50-pence-per-month levy on landlines to fund the rolling out of a national high speed broadband network . The most contentious issue of the Bill was the former Clause 18, which proposed to cut off the internet connections of illegal file sharers . This clause received widespread criticism for giving politicians unprecedented power to block pirate websites, but despite this being removed, the Bill now contains a similar clause that allows the Secretary of State for Business to block any site that “the court is satisfied has been, is being or is likely to be used for or in connection with an activity that infringes copyright.” There were concerns that the Digital Economy Bill was in danger of being rushed through Parliament due to upcoming election, and although the Bill has passed speedily through the system it seems that it has at least been given due attention. However, further criticism came from the low turnout of MPs for previous readings of the Bill, and among the dissenting voices on its third and final reading were the Liberal Democrats and certain Labour MPs. The Telegraph also reports that, despite the party’s prior objections to the Bill, the Conservatives offered their support at the last minute. Now only awaiting final approval by the House of Lords, a procedure that is generally viewed as a mere formality, it shouldn’t be long before the Digital Economy Bill receives Royal Assent and is passed into law
