Google prepares to launch live search

September 8, 2010 by publisher · Leave a Comment

Web surfers are eagerly awaiting an announcement from the world’s leading search engine later today, when Google is expected to officially unveil its ‘live’ search engine , which updates search results as you type. Last month, Google was spotted testing a real-time search results page , which mirrors the way the site already predicts search queries as they are typed by delivering a results page that refreshes with each keystroke, without the need to press the enter key. PC Pro reports that the company will today invite the press to “get an inside look at the evolution of Google search” at an event held in San Francisco. Although more specific details have not yet been revealed, the online public has already been given a big hint in the form of the latest Google Doodle. Visiting the Google homepage presents a monochrome version of the company logo that fills in with colour as users type their search queries - reminiscent of how the new search feature will update search engine results pages (SERPs) as queries are typed. Google’s live search shows the company’s determination to continue innovating its product to stay ahead of rivals like Microsoft’s Bing. The Mountain View giant also recently launched a dedicated site for Realtime Search to allow users to browse for the latest discussions and tweets from a central hub. It’s Easy to Join Twitter and Twitter Tools Makes it Easy to Use

August 13, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

It is not difficult to join Twitter, but Twitter tools are not so easy to find or to use. In fact there is plenty of advice online for those that are interested in joining Twitter, particularly for those that want to avoid making mistakes. What is not so easy is using Twitter to its maximum advantage, and for that you have to start by learning about the tools that the twitter website itself offers you. Once you know how to use these, there a many more Twitter tools that you can use to make life easier, such as those that enable you to attract the right kind of followers, and to check out that the people you are following are following you back. It is possible to achieve this manually by checking the pages of those that should be following you or trying to identify the thumbnails on your page, but it is quicker if a Twitter tool does it for you. Other tools involve the integration of Twitter with other social networking applications, such as Facebook and YouTube, and methods of reducing the URLs that you publish in your tweets to a more manageable size. It is certainly true that Twitter does this automatically but you have no control over the appearance of the visible URL.

August 13, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

Sometime, there is a level of confusion between the terms – video conferencing and telepresence. The line of distinction gets blurred, as web conferencing technology continues to improve. Improve Your Bottom Line With Audience Engagement

August 6, 2010 by publisher · Leave a Comment

Before I decided on the title for this article I wrote down a list of options: how to engage an audience, how to affect change, and how to alter perceptions and change attitudes. All of which are valid, and all of which are important to you as a business owner or marketing manager. The trouble is, most busy, results-oriented business owners and managers want quick, simple answers to complex marketing questions that involve psychological and sociological issues. Buying a mobile phone, makeup, or a car is more complicated than which option provides the most features at the cheapest cost. Even if that was someone’s intent, it’s a purchasing strategy that is defeated by the myriad of confusing and conflicting feature packages offered: you can get this with that, but not that with this, unless you get the other thing you don’t want, and of course whatever you do want costs a lot more. To clarify the situation you can always consult the specifications with the help of an engineer to explain them to you, or you could read some user-generated consumer reports that were probably written by some paid shill or someone with way too much time on their hands. As a last resort you could just buy the one that comes in the nicest color. What gets lost in all the paradox of choice, technological hype, and fad-marketing confusion is no matter what you sell, tanks or toilet paper, it’s people who buy it, even if those people work for mega corporations that order in container-load quantities. People are frustrating after all, it’s hard enough negotiating where to go for dinner with your friends, so what chance do you have of convincing strangers to part with their hard earned cash

Why Should I Give You My Email Address?

June 23, 2010 by publisher · Leave a Comment

Every day I get more spam in in inbox than I do legitimate email, and unfortunatly much of that comes from email lists that I have subscribed to, offering me everything from growing my bank account, to growing various parts of my anatomy. So I find myself asking, “if I subscribe to another list, will I get more of the same?” Not a day goes by when I do not open my email and learn about a guy from central America who was $5,297 in debt who goes on to amass a fortune of $297,613 within 30 days by simply following this or that formula. So much of the email I receive is spam, however a large percentage of it is from “reputable” marketers who are simply trying to get a couple more dollars of affiliate commission out of my wallet. Let’s be honest. Most of these claims and sales letters are bogus… as proof, you are shown screen shots of their ClickBank accounts (which can easily be doctored using a graphics program) saying this is how much they earnt in the last month. To be honest, I am sick to death of people trying to sell me the latest “magic pill” every second day. I subscribed to their list because they promised me a solution to my problem at the time.

Apple iPhone 4 causes flood of orders and site overloads

June 17, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

Apple has racked up another victory of numbers as the company said it’s already received 600,000 pre-orders for the iPhone 4, the latest in its series of revolutionary smart phones. However, the success came at the cost of downing its exclusive US carrier. “It was the largest number of preorders Apple has ever taken in a single day and was far higher than we anticipated, resulting in many order and approval system malfunctions,” the Cupertino-based firm said in a statement. Systems affected by the influx of eager Apple fans included Apple’s own website, as well as that of US carrier AT&T. In addition, AT&T’s in-store ordering systems also took a hit. The latest Jobsian device will be released 24 June in the US, UK and several other countries. However, due to demands for the device, the company has revised a timetable of pre-shipping dates, now saying they would be received by 14 July rather than the previously stated release date. Industry analysts agree that the pre-order flood indicates that Apple still remains a force to be reckoned with in regards to the smart phone market, despite still competition from Android phones, HTC and Motorola

Google’s encrypted search engine goes beta

May 24, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

Google has unveiled the beta version of its SSL encrypted search engine for international searches, giving users the option of enhanced security if they feel their internet connection may be accessible by third parties. The encrypted version of Google .com can be accessed by adding a simple ’s’ to the web address, taking users to https:// www.google.com. PC Pro notes that national portals, such as google.co.uk, are not yet available in an encrypted form. Google announced its plan to offer an encrypted search service last week, following the latest privacy concerns that saw its Street View cameras unintentionally accessing open Wi-Fi connections . By encrypting the data between a user’s computer and Google’s servers, PC Pro writer Barry Collins explains it becomes “practically impossible for third parties to intercept search terms or results.” The encrypted search engine is the latest of Google’s services to be treated to additional privacy, following the encryption of Gmail by default earlier this year. However, the Mountain View company has assured users that their privacy will not be compromised when accessing Google services that have not yet been encrypted. “To help avoid misunderstanding, when you search using SSL, you won’t see links to offerings like Image Search and Maps that, for the most part, don’t support SSL at this time,” explained the company’s software engineer, Evan Roseman, on the Google Blog.

Facebook unveils new privacy settings

December 10, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

Facebook is offering new privacy options to grant users better control over their personal data, in some aspects at least. The social networking site, which boasts around 350 million members worldwide, is asking users to review their privacy settings for all content posted to Facebook. While the site states that it is seeking to empower users by giving them improved control over their data, Brad Stone of the New York Times observes that the revisions also provide an opportunity for Facebook to fix faulty or outdated services that may be holding it back in the social networking market against rivals such as Twitter
