The Crossing of Social Media and Hardcore Gaming

April 12, 2011 by publisher · Leave a Comment

The video game industry is a multimillion dollar industry turning profits similar to that of big budget movies on some of their releases, and companies like Facebook have begun to take notice as they are looking to cross social media with hardcore gaming. Currently Facebook offers games like Mafia Wars, Backyard Monsters, Desktop Defender and Battle Pirates. These titles are already aimed at the same audience as PS3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii owners, and have an install base of more than 20 million users, but Facebook is hoping to increase that number by 2013 to 100 million users.
