Yahoo! Defends Search Engine Title

Days after announcing the complete transition of Yahoo!’s search back-end infrastructure to Microsoft Bing, Yahoo! reminded the public that it is still a search engine. In a post on the Yahoo! Search Blog, Senior Vice President of Yahoo! Search Products Shashi Seth addressed rumors that the company is no longer a search engine. According to Seth, stating that Yahoo! is no longer a search engine is equivalent to saying Boeing or Airbus aircrafts are no longer airline manufacturers simply because they outsource critical components of their products.

White House Addresses Gulf Oil Spill on You Tube

CNN reports that President Obama will address the nation live Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET about the latest on the BP oil disaster. In related news, Google has announced that people are invited to submit their questions about the disaster on Google Moderator and vote for the ones they think are most important. About 15 minutes after the president’s speech, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs will answer the questions on the White House YouTube channel.

Kayak Lets You Search for Travel Destinations by Price

If you enjoy traveling and want to find new locations to explore but have budget concerns, then the new search feature from Internet travel site Kayak might be exactly what you are looking for. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Kayak has launched an “Explore” search feature that takes the concept of online travel searching and turns it on its ear by focusing on price instead of destination.
