Anonymous puts government sites on the bonfire

November 8, 2011 by publisher · Leave a Comment

Hacktivist collective Anonymous struck again this weekend, carrying out attacks on both El Salvador and Israeli government sites. El Salvador’s president’s website went offline after being swamped with over 30 million visits on Saturday, and the legislative assembly, police and ministry of justice also came under attack. Presidential spokesman David Rivas pinned the attack on Anonymous and believed it to be part of vigilante Operation Justice El Salvador – sparked by the group’s stance on the country’s human rights record. Economy minister, Hector Dada Hirezi added that the group “tried to attack our website to publicise the private information of internal and external users.” On Sunday the Israeli government’s website also faced the wrath of Anonymous, as the group threatened action via YouTube video if humanitarian boats attempting to reach Gaza continued to be blocked. “Your actions are illegal, against democracy, human rights, international, and maritime laws

Google+ welcomes business with open arms

November 8, 2011 by creative · Leave a Comment

Newcomer Google+ has invited businesses onto its social networking site, giving brands a new opportunity to ‘build relationships’ online. Product Management Director for Google+ Pages Dennis Troper wrote in a blog post : “Since the initial launch of Google+ just a few months ago, we’ve welcomed over 40 million people and introduced more than 100 new features. For all these people, one important part is still missing – your business.” While corporate profiles have become an important fabric in other social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook, until now Google+ has restricted access for business, focusing its attention on developing its social network as a consumer service. “So far Google+ has focused on connecting people with other people. But we want to make sure you can build relationships with all the things you care about – from local businesses to global brands – so today we’re rolling out Google + Pages worldwide,” Troper said. Businesses will now be able to share information about themselves with other G+ users, and make use of features such as circles and hangouts to interact with customers.

Ending Social Media Marketing Confusion

November 7, 2011 by admin · Leave a Comment

Consider this scenario: You know you’re supposed to get on Twitter to somehow promote your website. So you start randomly tweeting out links to a product or service page on your website. But who is going to care? Sure, you could do some Twitter searches and find people who are asking their own Twitter followers about a product or service that you may happen to offer. And yes, you could reply to them with a link to your information, but overall, is that really a good, scalable social media marketing strategy? No, it’s not.

Business Briefs that Cry Out for Attention

October 21, 2011 by creative · Leave a Comment

Substandard business reports don’t attract the reader’s eye, they neither inform nor entertain, and worst of all, they don’t get action. Don’t let the author of the next bad report in your company be you. Have you ever been forced to review a business report that was so monotonous you had to jab yourself with a pin every two minutes to avoid fading into rapturous states of unconsciousness. Maybe you didn’t pierce yourself in time and your cranium hit the desktop, allowing a bit of drool to leak onto the report. Guilt immediately sets in because you know that the author worked hard on the thing and that the subject matter is important. Regrettable for that guy, because the other key readers of his report won’t be as sensitive as you– they’ll just line their coops with it. You silently have a good laugh and form a wicked grin at the notion– bird cage liner– funny stuff. The grin gets wiped off of your face in an instant when a second thought invades your brain– you have a report due next week to hand into the same crew. What will you do — WHAT WILL YOU DO?! Well, have no fear.
