Google commerce search cashes in on Christmas

Google’s Commerce Search has an eye on scooping up some of the Christmas cash by offering online retailers a search service aimed at helping shoppers. The additional service will be geared to helping direct shoppers to the retail goods they are hunting for with the help of functions such as allowing people to search by category, price, brand or other attributes or offering them a related items search. Hosted in the cloud, the service aims to be quick and easy for retailers to implement - and its cloudy location means that traffic spikes should be easily dealt with.

Mobile payment services received a boost yesterday as retail giant Amazon launched Amazon Mobile Payment, a service which will put it in direct competition with PayPal, iTunes and Google Checkout. The new Amazon Mobile Payments System will mean that mobile merchants and developers will be able to incorporate Amazon’s one click checkout technology to easily accept payments through smartphones and mobile devices. One of the first companies to jump on board this new technology is Handmark, a mobile content company that provides ringtones, video games for smartphones and other mobile downloads
