Google Doodle Celebrates 30 Years of Pac-Man
May 31, 2010 by publisher · Leave a Comment
The iconic arcade game Pac-Man celebrated it’s 30th anniversary this month. That’s right, 30 years ago, Pac-Man was launched in Japan and it’s been a firm favorite ever since, with young and old. To commemorate Pac-Man’s 30th birthday, Google created an interactive Home Page Doodle: a Flash-based mini game of Pac-Man incorporating the Google logo. The “I’m feeling lucky” was replaced with a new button “Insert Coin” and you could play Pac-Man complete with 1980’s sound effects without leaving the Google home page. Apparently, it’s the first time Google have ever used Flash on their home page. The game proved so popular with office procrastinators, that Google has kept it live so you can play it to your heart’s content

Facebook spammers know that sex sells
May 24, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
Last weekend many Facebook users supposedly sent their friends a video of ‘distracting beach babes’, the still showing a young woman’s derriere along with the message “this is hilarious! lol
:P
Distracting Beach Babes.” It’s not the first time spammers have targeted unsuspecting Facebook users with engaging videos. Just last weekend a similar message was rife on Facebook, this time with the message “sexiest video ever”, and a still of a woman in a very tight miniskirt to accompany it. While many people wouldn’t click on such a link if it arrived in an e-mail, the fact that it was supposedly sent by a friend - a Facebook friend at least - meant many people ended up clicking the link. For those that did, users were sent to a fake Facebook application. They were then asked to update their Flash video player and in doing so, downloading adware onto their computer. And, to keep the ball rolling, the video was then posted to all of the friends of the unsuspecting user. So what should Facebook users do now

Google takes a bite out of Apple’s Tablet
May 13, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
The bitter friction between Apple and Google following the release of its Android operating system was one thing, but sour relations between the two companies has reached a new stage of intensity following Google’s announcement of its own Tablet. Steve Jobs recently accused Google of “stealing features from the iPhone” and that the company had “entered the phone business.” At a company meeting, he remarked: “Make no mistake, they want to kill the iPhone. We won’t let them.” Apparently, this attack was met with “thunderous applause” from Apple’s employees. No doubt this corporate squabbling is the result of the success of Apple’s new iPad, which has prompted other tech companies, like Dell and Toshiba, to enter the Tablet computing market. In a report by the BBC, Appleis said to have sold more than 300,000 units of the iPad Tablet computer on its launch day in the US, which sent Apple’s share price up to a record high of $238.49. Forbes, however, says that Apple has sold its millionth iPad, after the Tablet computers had been on sale just 28 days

8 SEO Myths Debunked
May 6, 2010 by publisher · Leave a Comment
One of my favorite pastimes is debunking SEO myths – and there are many! I could probably come up with 100 SEO-related ideas or actions that people think are helpful, but which in reality won’t provide them with more targeted traffic to their websites. Here are some of the more prevalent myths I hear and see bandied about in SEO articles, at SEO conferences, in SEO blogs and on SEO forums: SEO Myth #1: You Need Special Search Engine Pages. While it’s not as prevalent as it used to be, we still get calls from companies who want us to create some sort of “SEO landing pages.” While landing pages often make sense for paid search campaigns such as Google AdWords, they’re unnecessary for organic SEO campaigns. Well, I shouldn’t say that they’re unnecessary – it’s just that your SEO landing pages shouldn’t be something outside of your site. They should already exist as an integral part of it. If those aren’t currently bringing you search engine traffic, it doesn’t mean you need to add new pages, it means you have to optimize your existing ones better. SEO Myth #2: You Need to Optimize for Just One Keyword Phrase Per Page. Many, many SEOs and businesses believe that you should optimize each page of your site for just one keyword phrase

18 Effective Search Engine Optimization Techniques
April 28, 2010 by publisher · Leave a Comment
Proper Search Engine Optimization, otherwise known as SEO, has quickly become a popular topic of conversation among website owners and entrepreneurs. The difference between having a successful website, and hosting a flop, is often the difference between whether or not you’ve incorporated proper keywords and phrases into your webpages. Learning proper SEO techniques can seem like a daunting task, especially to those who are not familiar with the concept. The following list offers 18 simple SEO techniques you should keep in mind when developing and marketing your website. Make sure your website is initially designed with your search engine optimization needs in mind. Search engines look for text, not flashy graphics and cool layouts. The trendiest web designs will mean nothing if no one is able to find your site. Every page of your website should have a title tag with text describing either your site or what is on the page. Be sure the text includes SEO-type keywords instead of the name of your website.

Less than a week after personally unveiling the iPad - which news channels have been analysing and speculating over since - Apple CEO Steve Jobs has answered why the device won’t support Adobe Flash, at least in a private, employee gathering.

Will new EU rules smack affiliate networks the hardest?
November 10, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
New EU regulations are on the way that will serve to make web tracking strictly opt-in. Cookie tracking may be protected by browser options, but alternative methods offered by some affiliate networks may end up being crushed. Big mouth media previously wrote about the EU proposal in June , in which the EU outlined to stop any form of tracking that stored data on a terminal - such as a computer - without the user’s express opt-in.
