Web Video Content Considerations

September 3, 2010 by publisher · Leave a Comment

You’ve got this hot new product that you’re sure will take the market by storm, all you have to do is get the word out, and you know the best way to make the biggest, most memorable impact is with a knock-your-socks-off viral video campaign published on your website and repurposed on YouTube. If for some reason you doubt the value of video or its increasing impact on commercial presentation, and you need some statistical evidence to satisfy your skepticism, consult Paul Verna’s article “Companies Throw Their Weight Behind Online Video” . You know you’ll need to support the video with a public relations blitz, and you’re investigating companies like Viral Ad Network and AlphaBird for seeding your videos so that they go viral. But how (there’s always a but) do you present your product or service so that viewers won’t dismiss your video campaign as just another sales pitch from a company that’s claiming to sell the greatest thing since Ron Popeil’s spray-on hair. The answer is both simple and difficult: simple to understand but hard to execute, and for most small and medium enterprises even harder to accept. Start At The Beginning Once you’ve made the decision to use Web video as a means to promote your company you have to decide if this is a project you are going to take-on in-house or outsource to professionals. Decisions. Decisions. Producing an in-house video campaign would, of course, be the cheapest solution assuming you have all the hardware and software, plus the technical, production, and marketing communication expertise to complete the task

AOL, Google to team up for five more years

September 2, 2010 by publisher · Leave a Comment

As AOL continues to rejig its strategies and corporate structure - which has already facilitated cutting the cord with social networking dud Bebo - it’s signed on for another tour with search seraph Google , the far-and-away market leader. The deal is of great importance to AOL, as one of its last vestiges of profitability falls within ad sales, and the ISP and web portal owed some $209 million in revenue to its partnership with Mountain View. Though neither AOL nor Google disclosed financial agreements between the two companies, it has been revealed that the new terms will include bringing AOL to the mobile search market, which has been exploding in popularity since the advent of smartphone technology. “Today is another important step in the turnaround of AOL,” said CEO Tim Armstrong, who’s been in charge of reversing the fortunes of the web outfit, once synonymous with the internet some 15 years ago. “AOL users will be getting a better search and search ads experience from the best search company in the world - Google,” Armstrong said. “After nearly a decade-long partnership in search, we’re looking forward to expanding our global relationship to mobile search and YouTube. All aspects of our partnership will be improved by this deal.” AOL’s deal rolls out their ad services to YouTube, the number one video-sharing website, where profits on display ads will be split with Google, who’s also the parent company of the site specialising in piano-playing cats and other internet memes

Online Brand Management – 5 Benefits of Viral Videos

September 1, 2010 by publisher · Leave a Comment

Viral video is simultaneously the most entertaining and the most infuriating element of online marketing. Let’s clear the air quickly: No one can promise you a viral video success. Ever. Viral videos succeed because the audience likes them and spreads them on to other people. If the audience doesn’t get it, the video doesn’t go viral, and there is nothing that can guarantee the response you want. That said, there is every reason to continue developing video content with the aim of going viral. In terms of investment-to-value ratio, viral videos remain some of the most economical efforts a brand can put out for itself. If even one video you produce hits the entertainment nerve and goes viral, you’ve done your brand a world of good. Let us consider the success of one particular viral series to see some of the benefits available from this branding tactic.

ASA extends marketing rules to online ads

September 1, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

Online advertising in the UK will soon be subject to the same regulations as other forms of media, with the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) extending its remit to the world wide web. The ASA will have the power to regulate ads on websites and social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter, from 1 March 2011. Businesses have until that date to ensure their marketing campaigns comply with the same advertising standards previously reserved for mediums such as TV and print ads. BBC News reports that the new rules will apply to all advertisements or statements that are intended to sell products or services, but will not extend to journalistic and editorial content connected to causes or ideas, in order to protect online freedom of speech. However, direct donation or fund-raising requests will fall under the jurisdiction. This news comes after months of debate and growing pressure on the online advertising community from groups such as the Advertising Association (AA) to be more responsible and accountable for content, especially with regard to children and other vulnerable people. The authority received over 3,500 complaints about adverts last year, but more than half of these related to online ads and thus fell outside of its remit. The ASA also revealed that 75 per cent of complaints received are about misleading content, and a key focus of complaints is adverts that are unsuitable for children. “This is a massive step,” an ASA spokesman said.

My Tactics for Getting Those Top 5 Spots in Google

August 27, 2010 by publisher · Leave a Comment

Actually, getting in the #1 spot is best, but I will settle for the top 5 or even anywhere on the first page for very competitive keywords. Obtaining those top rankings for your targeted keywords in Google will obviously be very important to achieving your online goals. I don’t have some magic formula, just online marketing stuff that works. Very simple stuff that everyone can do to get those top rankings. Here are some of the tactics/things I do: - article marketing through the free article directories - create videos on my niche products - make blog posts in my niche areas - do press releases for my targeted products - create free ebook guides on my subject areas - build separate lists for each major niche market with follow-up emails - participate in online forums with my sig links added - make regular tweets about any new content - find out my competitors’ main backlinks and duplicate them - create Google Alerts for my major keywords and add comments/links to the ones I like - keep adding fresh content pages to my sites keyworded to phrases used by buyers Now on second thought, some of those are not so simple, but they can be easily done by most webmasters. Or, you can get someone to do them for you. For example, I get my videos done for me since I simply don’t have the time or expertise to do them myself. If you’re poor at writing or have little time, you can even get someone to write your articles for you as well. Same goes for your web content, but you have to be careful and make sure it is of the highest standard

Small Business Video Marketing For 2010

August 25, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

There are still debates going on about how business owners can use social media marketing, however the actual number of CEOs engaging in social media is surprisingly low. In 2010 it seems that businesses have either grown comfortable, or have been forced to accept sites like Twitter, Facebook, and Foursquare.. For instance, there are many impressive CEOs using Twitter to reach out to consumers by creating a personalized touch to their business. Tweeting CEOs like Tony Hsieh of Zappos and Guy Kawasaki of Alltop are well-known for their successful social presences and large followings as a result. There is more to the buzz than just Twitter and Facebook, and you can see this in action by watching how business owners are using video marketing

The first impression customers get of your website and your business is geared by the impression made by your website homepage. It has a major effect on its success or failure. Your website homepage can be the determining factor in the reader’s choice to delve further into your site or bounce off after a cursory glance, to go back to the search engine and look for something more relevant. Despite this, many websites miss this great opportunity to lure in its readers, simply by having poorly targeted or poorly displayed homepage content that does not immediately inform them what the site is about. There’s no doubt that Facebook has made a serious cultural impact - with over half a billion users, there’s hardly a competing website that touches it. However, the market value of such a broad-reaching service reinforces its powerful status as well, and has recently been speculated at $33 billion (

YouTube launches mobile site

Mobile users will now be able to stream higher quality videos at faster speeds than before, when using a new YouTube site customised for the mobile web. The revamped YouTube, built on HTML5, promises to offer a superior experience to native mobile applications, according to YouTube owners Google . The company revealed that the UK is currently the biggest European consumer of YouTube videos on mobile devices, but that these have previously offered a limited experience of the site. The Telegraph reports that the mobile-friendly video site will also incorporate enhanced social networking features, making it easier for users to share videos on the move across platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and Google’s own network, Google Buzz . The mobile web market is a major focus of Google’s strategies in 2010, with Google boss Eric Schmidt stating earlier this month that the sector is now ” fundamental to everything we do .” By optimising the world’s most popular video site, the Mountain View company will be able to strengthen its position in the mobile web. Google explained: “YouTube consumption on mobile devices has grown considerably. Playbacks were up 160 per cent in 2009 over the previous year, and YouTube mobile now receives more than 100 million video playbacks a day. “Today, more than ever, YouTube knows that you want to be able to find and access your favourite videos wherever you are. “That’s why we’re rolling out an updated version of the mobile site
