Quick Tips
April 10, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
Here are some quick tips to help you optimize your website rankings. Link building is the main thing we will focus on here. Search engines place a lot of weight on the number of links that are pointing back at your website. So the more links you can get, the better your ranking will be. You should always reciprocate those who link to you by linking back at them. This will build up your reputation as well and help you get more back links.
Site directories – This is another way of getting links back to your site. The more directories you are listed in, the better your chances of getting exposure and back links.
Article marketing – Although this takes up a little more time to roll out, it is a great way to increase your reputation and following. Post as many unique and interesting articles as possible to as many sites as you can. The back links you offer on the articles, will bring in more traffic.
Mailers – This requires you to build up a database of interested users. But once you do, it is an excellent method for making direct contact with a potential customer. Be careful not to spam and send only qualitative information. Always remember to include a link back to your website.
Newsletters – You can send informative articles and other information to your email database as well. This mainly helps cement relationships between you and them. Offering a free newsletter service on your website will also encourage users to sign up, therefore increasing your database.
Forums – Check out all the threads that interest you on a forum and start posting replies. If you wish to, you can start a few threads yourself. But keep in mind that this is an ongoing process. This means you have to constantly interact with people with the purpose of building relationships. You should mainly focus on forums that are related to the product you are selling, but if you have time on your hands it is worthwhile to visit unrelated ones as well. Once again, place a link back to your website as many times as you can.
Twitter Launches @Anywhere Service
March 31, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
At the latest South by Southwest, Evan Williams, CEO and co-founder of Twitter, revealed the newest thing to hit the micro blogging world – the @anywhere service. The new service aims allow native Twitter support on webpage to enable users to interact with Twitter without leaving the website.
The new app platform announced by Williams will integrate the service with the rest of the web. A simple script will enable web developers to provide hover cards similar to the ones found on Twitter.com to pop up on their own sites. This will allow users to utilize the links found on the hover cards and either Tweet about the site, follow the author of an article, etc. Of these, the crucial development seems to be the ability to follow the author of an article, as this would give you a legitimate link to the person you wish to follow. Currently, the legitimacy of a person’s identity is one of the biggest issues in following people. It also enables everyone to know the Twitter handle of a particular person.
With people Tweeting what they are reading about or purchasing, the data set gathered by Twitter becomes extensive. Therefore, integrating it further into the web will only make Twitter’s stock grow. Anyone buying data from the company will have access to a very personal and in-depth profile of a person. How Twitter goes about monetizing this scheme is still unknown. So far, the company has not revealed any plans to generate revenue, a move that is anxiously awaited by the tech community.
A Long Term Strategy

Once you have a short term strategy like PPC working well for you, it is time to start thinking about a long term strategy. Long term strategies help you cement your place in the online world. One such proven and highly competitive strategy is Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
In its barest form, SEO can be described as a method that will display your site in search results on MSN, Yahoo! and of course, Google. The significant fact is that this method aims to get your site to the top of the search results. It can be argued that the same thing can be achieved by getting a paid ad, but the whole point of SEO is that it is free and requires only your time as an investment.
The fruit of your labor will take some time to appear under this method, sometimes even taking up to a couple of years, which is why this is known as a long term strategy. But once you get it working properly, it will bring in traffic to your site in droves. Think about the revenue you could make if you had a million unique hits every month and ten percent of those converted into sales. Even with a meager profit of $1 per person, that would still be a hefty sum.
There are a few key steps you should consider when getting into SEO. Identify keywords and select the ones that have the most traffic. Then you should set up your site so that the meta-tags and the content have those keywords in them. Next, you have to keep adding content to your site on a very regular basis. Finally, trade links with websites that have content that relates to yours.
Remember, SEO is a long term strategy so you have to be very patient until it starts showing results.
A Short Term Strategy
March 27, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
When you are starting out on your internet marketing venture, it may be confusing to try to comprehend all the strategies and methods that everyone is using. Instead of trying to take it all in all at once, just try one marketing strategy first and do it properly.
Sometimes you just have to try out something to see if it works for you and in this case, using a short term strategy can help you figure out a lot of things. One of the best strategies to use would be pay-per-click advertising (PPC). PPC is simple and easy to set up; all you have to do is get an account, figure out your keywords and create your ads. Currently Google Adwords and Yahoo! Overture are the best platforms out there.
Adwords can be set to display your ads on search results or content. An important point to note is that Google supplies search results to AOL and other sites as well. This means that when you set Adwords to display results only on “searches”, your ad will appear on all the sites Google supplies results to. Starting off with the “searches” option is better, as the other option will require a little bit of experience to make it work. Overture is also quite good and one of the advantages it holds over Adwords is that the size of the ads is a little bigger.
The reason why PPC advertising is a good short term strategy is that it brings you traffic immediately, it allows you to gauge how your site is performing and if it isn’t performing very well, it allows you to tweak your site and get quick feedback.
Tips for Product Review Blogs
March 20, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
Product review blogs require a bit of work to become effective, but once you get it going it can be quite lucrative. The most important thing to remember is that the success of the product review blogs is built on its reputation.
Your reviews must be written impartially and must be of high quality. You should buy and use the product if possible to give a real, first-hand experience of it. While you experiment with the product, try to capture it on video. It does not matter if you make mistakes while using the product, just try and capture every moment. Later on, you can edit this video and place it alongside your product review. Not only does this add an extra dimension to your review, it also helps build visitors’ confidence in you as they can see you actually using the product. If you are not able to utilize the video, you should include some pictures on how to use the product. This will also go towards building your reputation, especially if you give help with tricky bits of installation that the product manual does not.
You should always respond to comments left by visitors to the site. This will help you build up a relationship with them and increase your returning visitors. The more you build up your reputation in this way the more traffic you will see coming to your website. As you build up your site and see the traffic flowing in, do not forget to add your affiliate links to the product. After all, making money is the whole purpose of this exercise.
Search Engine Optimization – Three Mistakes You Should Avoid
March 13, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
The importance of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is only too obvious when it comes to having an online business. While everything that can be done is being done to make a website SEO-friendly, a lot of people make certain common mistakes in the process, which are avoidable.
1. Lack of content – There are many sites out there that look very rich due to the videos and pictures that compliment the product. However, the textual content is woefully sub-par. The same is true for all other products on the site. This is a bad mistake to make in terms of SEO. This is not a condemnation of the page but simply means that to a search engine all the product pages look the same because of a lack of textual content. Therefore, the search engine will most likely ignore them or classify them as low quality. Make sure that you have a decent amount of content which is significantly different in each page.
2. Drop anchors – Use your Anchor Text smartly. The more you help a search engine know what is being linked, the better your ranking will be in searches. For example in “Website design by Creative Designers”, the link should not be Creative Designers but Website design.
3. Spare a thought for crawlers – Unless you really have to display designs using flash, it is best to use this component and other components like it to a low minimum. Search engine crawlers like links on your page, especially site maps.
The point that is being emphasized here is “help the search engine recognize you”. The more you help a search engine identify you and assess you, the better your chances are of appearing at the top of the list based on a keyword search.

Landing Page Optimization Tips
March 13, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
A well structured landing page is an essential item in online sales. There are many common mistakes that people make which can be avoided. The following are a few tips that can help you improve your landing page.
1. Avoid the home page – Do not direct your links to your home page. You do not want the customer to navigate through all the links on the home page to get to the product page they need to get to.
2. Avoid a generic page – Following on from the point above, do not have a general landing page. Always have a specific landing page for each specific product. Your potential customer is there because they want a specific product, so don’t lose their attention.
3. Optimize clarity – Structure the page; have information pertinent only to the product that is supposed to be on the page.
4. PPC to landing page – Try to have a pay-per-click ad that directly links to your landing page. This will help you form an instant connection with your customers.
5. Grab info slowly – Customers will not be willing to share everything you need to know about them in one go. Get little chunks of information out of them, one at a time.
6. Lose the clutter – Don’t load the page with lots of images. You can lose customers if they have to wait for the page to load.
7. Don’t sell again – If your customer is at the landing page, you have already done most of the selling. What you do from here has to be subtle. Give them plenty of information about the product because that is what they are looking for at that point. Do not try to hard sell here or you will drive them away.

Increasing Your Conversion Rate
March 6, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
Generating traffic to your website is always the primary concern once you have got your website up and running. But all that traffic you generate will mean nothing if you cannot generate any sales. Of course there is a step that is between traffic generation and sales, and that is conversions.
Conversions can be anything from a Sale (the best conversion of all) to an inquiry, newsletter signup, download from the site, etc. Getting people into the conversion category is the first significant step you make towards a sale, because this gives you a “foot in the door”. Once you form a link with potential customers, you can keep in contact in various ways so that they will remember you first when they think about a product that you sell. The following are a few simple tips to keep in mind to increase conversion rates:
Identify your target audience – Once you do this, customize the pages to suit this particular audience. Having a general page that caters to all will not do you any great favors. Selling your product on that page is actually a secondary objective while forming a connection with the user is the primary objective you should focus on.
Choices, choices, choices – This is great if you are running a mega mall. Since you are not, cut down the choices. Having a few focused products to choose from will really work for you. The other thing to concentrate on is to make the page “idiot proof”. Everything must be simple and to the point, where the user does not get confused.
Be irresistible – Your call for action must be so tempting that they will be compelled to give something as simple (in their minds) as their contact details/email address in return. This is all you need in order to begin your relationship with that user.
If all these sounds too complicated, then you may consider hiring a Top SEO Firm.
Website Marketing Tips
March 6, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
Without good marketing your website might as well not exist. After all, what is the point of a good product if no one knows about it? The secret to good marketing is to make your website stick out like a sore thumb – in a good way. The key thing to remember here is that users want information/answers really really fast. So it is up to you to get their attention and keep them there.
Know what they want – Your website must address an issue that the user is interested in. Having a website that deals with “Koi Carp feed and care” would be one such example. But once you have site like that, do not talk about anything else but Koi Carp. The moment you do, the users will deem your site worthless and walk away.
Get the right design – Avoid unnecessarily flashy colors and cluttered information. Keep it simple, to the point and easy to navigate. Whatever you do, do NOT use pop ups.
Content – The look and feel is useless without good content, so always be sure to back up your site with good, well-written content. This will make your site a place worth returning to.
User Friendliness – Use images, icons, mini info displays, etc to give your users quick information at a glance. Online ordering, comprehensive contact information, testimonials, etc will also boost your image in the eyes of the user.
Advertise – Get your website in the user’s mind where ever you can. Newspapers, radio, TV, bumper stickers, social media, forums, etc which means anything and everything you can get your hands on. Drive the traffic there and if you have done a good job with the previous four tips, the site should do the rest for you.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) – SEO is one of the most important things you could do for your website. Learn as much as you can about SEO by reading online material or taking training course. Just a quick tip, concentrate on your content as mentioned above, but also you will need many links towards your website to rank well. Ask people to link to you, do links exchange, purchase directory ads and engage in activities that will increase your links, for example you could write articles and submit them to other sites for publication. You may also prefer to hire a Top SEO Firm.
Social Media Marketing – Create profiles on major social media sites such as Facebook, Myspace, Linkedin, Twitter and Youtube. Complete and optimize your profiles with your keywords. Post updates on regular basis. Increase your friends and followers. These steps will hep you market your website more effectively. If you don’t have the time to do it yourself, we recommend using social media marketing services of iClimber.
Article marketing: Developing a Good Resource Box
February 27, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
Article marketing is a great way for you to promote yourself and create a reputation. While it is essential that the content you provide is useful, insightful and well written you should also keep in mind that your calling card should hold true in these matters as well. The calling card in this instance is the resource box that you place at the end of the article.
Developing a good resource box is as crucial as the article; after all this is what will compel a user to follow you back to your own website. Don’t waste your time selling your product here, instead sell yourself and sell it well. Here are some points for you to consider in this regard.
1. Identity – Your name should be established clearly. Surprisingly many people skip this in favor of pushing their product and their links.
2. Bio – Your bio should be brief. If your article does not convince them that you are an expert in what you are writing about, a bio is not going to change their opinion. Make it short and effective.
3. Attract – Instead of saying “visit my website” or something similar, give them a compelling reason to go there. Offer freebies that the reader will be interested in which will keep them coming back to your site after the first visit.
4. Domain – There is nothing too wrong with www.stevejobs.com as long as you are Steve Jobs. But if you are not such a well known personality, a domain name which has “internetmarketingtips” or “free-real-estate-advice” for example is more compelling for the reader to click on.
5. Succinct – Usually article directories limit the amount of characters that can be used in the resource box. Use the space wisely.
6. Accentuate – Use characters like ==> or >>> in front of the URL to accentuate it.
7. Hyperlinks – Try to hyperlink keywords and phrases in your text back to your website. This practice will also improve your standings in search results. However you should keep in mind that article directories sometimes limit the number of hyperlinks you can have in the resource box, so once again use this technique wisely.
If you are too busy or lack the expertise to do it your self, then we recommend Article Writing & Submission services of social media marketing company iclimber.
